Oberoi Maidens, New Delhi

Maidens Hotel is one of Delhi's oldest hotels, built in the early 1900s, and has retained its colonial charm and architecture. Its spacious rooms with high ceilings are unique when compared to the box-sized rooms of modern hotels. Set amidst eight acres of lush gardens, shady trees, it escapes the noise of the main city, but remains within easy access to some of the most magnificent Mughal monuments, and famous shopping center Chandni Chowk with its quaint bazaars and meandering lanes.

Oberoi Maidens is an example of world’s finest sophisticated dining venue. The dinner offers multi-cuisines which includes Indian and continental delicacies along with chef’s special menus. The coffee shop at terrace is a great hanging out joint for brief friendly coffee session with other guest mates. The predominant feature of the dining venue is the numerous photographs of Lord Curzon which is being put up in his memory. The famous exotic “Cavalry Bar” serves impressive collection of impored liquors.

Streets of MKT

It has been a long time since I last went out on the streets to capture life..to capture people. When it comes to street photography,  only one name comes to my mind..Steve Mccurry. I'm a big fan of Steve and his work has inspired me a lot.It was 29th Nov 2011 and this time I decided to go out and spend a day at a Tibetan Refugee Camp in MKT (Majnu Ka Tilla) where I had been almost a year back for the same reason. This time, I had plans to reach MKT early in the morning but as the history goes, I have barely seen the mornings! Anyhow, I managed to leave home around 10am, boarded the metro from dwarka and reached MKT in nearly two hours. The Tibetan Refugee Camp is an enclosed colony of Tibetan inhabitants for years now and even today you will hardly find Indians there. The moment you step inside, the surroundings transform into a whole new world of Tibet. At first I felt like an alien intruding their own space but as I got there, I decided to sit by the monastery for a while and absorb the atmosphere of the place which is the central lobby of the colony. I sat there observing life..people offering prayers, food stalls selling delicious Tibetan delicacies and children playing around. After a while I was completely in sync with the place and it was time to put on the appropriate lens to begin the excursion. Once the camera was set, I headed to the streets to catch the action.
